EntityFinder is run by TrueScope LLC. Write to admin@entityfinder.us and a person will read it. We answer within two business days.

Reporting something wrong

Corrections are the most useful mail we get, and they are read first. It helps to include the page, what it says now, and what it should say. A link to the state’s own page showing the correct figure means the fix can be made the same day.

Fees change, portals move and registers are reorganized without notice, so a page that was right in March can be wrong in September. If you spotted it, you are probably the first.

Questions about a search

If a search returned something that looks wrong, tell us the name, the state and roughly when you ran it. Some states answer from a copy of the register that we refresh nightly and others are queried live, so the explanation usually depends on which state you searched.

Press, partnerships and data questions

Also admin@entityfinder.us. If you are writing about business formation and want the detail behind a figure on one of these pages, ask and we will send the source.

What we cannot do

We are not a government agency and are not affiliated with any Secretary of State. We cannot file a formation document, reserve a name, change or remove a record held by a state, or tell you whether a state will accept a filing. A record that is wrong on a state’s register has to be corrected by that state, and each state’s page here links the office that holds it.

We are also not a law firm. Whether a particular name is safe to use is a question for an attorney, and we cannot answer it.

Check a business name against all 50 states and the District of Columbia. Free, no account, and the official register is always linked.
