Oklahoma Business Entity Search

Search the state's official business records.

Oklahoma's register is at sos.ok.gov, run by the Secretary of State.

It is the only state in this project that charges you to read a record, and it asks for your name and email address before it will even show you that much.

$5.00 to see the detail

The free Entity Summary gives you the filing number, name type, status, corporation type, jurisdiction and formation date, plus the registered agent with an address.

Everything past that sits behind a button the page describes plainly:

To view Entity Details there will be a $5.00 charge

Delaware and Hawaii charge for copies of filed documents. Oklahoma charges for the record itself. No other state in this project does.

So budget for it if you need the detail, and know that the free summary is genuinely useful for a name check even though it will not answer much else.

And a contact form before that

Between the results list and the summary sits a Contact Information screen demanding a personal name and an email address, with a Cloudflare check beside it.

Read its own instructions and the oddity resolves:

as a way to notify you when your documents are processed return and complete any unfinished filings which are saved as work in progress

That is wording written for somebody filing paperwork, not somebody looking a company up. It is a filing-workflow screen sitting in the path of a read-only search, which is why it feels like it is asking the wrong question. It is.

The list is deliberately preliminary

Oklahoma describes what it offers as a preliminary search and tells you to click the filing number to see anything detailed.

Results carry the filing number, name, entity type, registered agent, and a combined Name Type & Status column, so Tradename / Active and Legal / In use sit side by side as different kinds of answer.

Entity types include Domestic Trade Name Entity and Domestic Partnership Fictitious Name Entity, which most states do not expose as types at all.

A search for ACME returns 500 results, paginated ten pages deep.

Who decides

Filings are recorded; acceptance is judged by the Secretary of State on examination, under the Oklahoma Limited Liability Company Act, Okla. Stat. tit. 18, ยง 2000 et seq.

Before you rely on it

Use the free summary for a name check. It carries enough.

Expect the contact screen and know it is not about you.

Budget $5 if you need anything beyond the summary.

Oklahoma filing facts

Filing Fee
Articles of Organization $100.00
Annual certificate $25.00, on the company's anniversary
Name reservation $10.00
Same-day service, delivered in person $25.00 per document
Entity detail, per record viewed $5.00, priced on the portal itself

Oklahoma calls it an annual certificate, not an annual report, and it falls due on the company's own anniversary rather than a fixed statewide date.

At $100 to form and $25 a year the state is mid-table, and the recurring cost matches Michigan's $25 annual statement and Indiana's biennial report almost exactly. The $10 name reservation is among the cheapest anywhere, level with Arizona, Montana and North Carolina.

The $5 record charge is small in isolation and worth thinking about if you are checking several companies: ten lookups costs more than the name reservation.

Those are the prices on 71,140 applications over the 52 weeks to 26 September 2026, 285 a business day, up 29.7%, 29th of 51 by volume.

What the register will not tell you

Oklahoma has 14,861 live registered marks, and the two cities sit level with each other:

word live marks times more common than nationally
tulsa 266 256x
oklahoma 553 246x
bank 242 7x
red 221 4x
power 223 3x
world 235 2x

Tulsa at 256x edges out the state's own name, and the filing split explains why: Oklahoma City files 28.3% of the state's marks and Tulsa 26.4%, which is the closest two-city balance in this entire project. Most states have one center; Oklahoma has two of almost identical weight.

Bank at 7x is the only sector word on the list, and it is mild.

Below the two place names nothing is contested. Red, power and world sit at two to four times normal, which is ordinary.

The practical reading: Oklahoma and Tulsa are occupied. Almost everything else is open country.

What the Oklahoma portal looks like

Captured from the live register. Personal names and addresses are blacked out; everything else is as the state publishes it.

Business registrations in Oklahoma are held by the Oklahoma Secretary of State, which maintains the public register this page searches, accepts new filings, and issues the certificates a bank or a counterparty may ask you for. Contact them directly for anything that has to be official.

Common questions about Oklahoma business entity searches

How do I check if an LLC exists in Oklahoma?

Search the name on this page or on the state's own portal. What Oklahoma does by default is worth knowing before you read the result: single box, no match toggle on the basic form. A match means the entity is on file, and its status line tells you whether it is still active.

How do I verify a company is registered in Oklahoma?

Search the name, then open the record rather than reading the results line. The free Entity Summary carries: filing number, name type, status, corp type, jurisdiction and formation date, then Registered Agent Information with name, effective date and full address. The status on the record is the one to trust: a dissolved company still appears in a search and still holds its name.

Does a clear search mean my Oklahoma business name is approved?

Not on its own. A no-match result means the name is not on the Oklahoma register today, which is a preliminary answer rather than approval: Oklahoma Secretary of State decides when it reviews the filing. Worth knowing about Oklahoma in particular: the contact screen is not asking why you want the record. Its own instructions read "as a way to notify you when your documents are processed" and "return and complete any unfinished filings which are saved as work in progress": wording written for somebody filing paperwork, not somebody looking a company up. It is a filing workflow screen sitting in the path of a read-only search.

Can I look up who owns a business in Oklahoma?

The free summary names only the registered agent. Whether Oklahoma publishes officers or members is behind the $5.00 entity detail, which we have not bought, so we do not state it either way.

How much does it cost to register a business name in Oklahoma?

Oklahoma Secretary of State charges $100 to file the Articles of Organization, which is the document that forms the company, and is processed about 15 minutes. Reserving a name beforehand is a separate and smaller fee. Confirm the figure with the state before you file: schedules move.
